Violet Berlin girl gamer – Honorary Oakley

After taking member submissions for our next Honorary Oakley Violets name was hurled about by UKers. Although perhaps not famous outside the UK, Violet is a gaming institution therein. She’s been the face of female gaming for many a year and continues to be so today! This is why we feel she is a great addition to the the Honorary Oakley listing. Violet Berlin is a role model for many girls / women wanting to break into the games industry and this is why she is now a Thumb Bandits Honorary Oakley.

Let’s take a closer look at the woman herself…..

Violet Berlin – A quick bio:
Name: Violet Berlin
Birthdate: Hmm we believe around 1969

Looking at Violets resume of work it’s easy to see she’s a smart and talented lady. Some of her Television work includes: The Big Bang (ITV) Just completed its 6th year. Violet builds working machines from scrap and grows entities with a life of their own from household chemicals. Also, dramatic moments from history re-enacted, plus an interactive quiz. (TCC); live youth magazine, Cool Cube (Sky). Also, an educational retail video for young children, sKIDoo. Plus, Head To Head; The A-Z of Computer & Video Games; CheatFlash! All devised by Violet for TCC & produced by Violet’s previous TV company, Curious TV.
WOW!.

As you can tell from her list of work she’s a bit of a gaming and technology guru and it is with this in mind that we have chosen Violet Berlin to be represented in our Oakley hall of fame! Violet herself let us know that one of her favorite films is Annie Get Your Gun and we liked this tie in also, given the Honorary Oakley gets its name from kick ass cowgirl Annie Oakley.

Violet can be seen hosting Gamepad 4 at present, a show all about gaming. The great thing about this is, she’s not JUST eyecandy (although she is nice to look at – very cool), she actually knows about gaming and this comes across extremely well even to someone who may not have heard of her before (ie a non UKer as I was).

For all the reasons above and more we have chosen Violet Berlin, Presenter, Writer, Producer and all round cool female gaming guru to be one of our Honorary Oakley’s.

Violet Berlin we salute you!
